Welcome to Desert Park Safari

Desert Park Safari, Your Local Desert Tour Operator in Jaisalmer

Most people come to Jaisalmer for the fort. They leave remembering the desert.

We are Desert Park Safari, a desert tour operator in Jaisalmer. Our team is from here. We run the camel routes, the jeep runs, the camps out on the sand and the city tours ourselves, which means when you call and ask something specific, like how far the camels actually walk or whether there is a light in the tent at night, you are talking to somebody who has been out there.

Jaisalmer desert tours come in every length. Some of you have one free afternoon before a night train. Some have a week. A half day trip gets you to the dunes for sunset and back to your hotel by nine. Give it one night and you get the sunset, then the stars, then the sunrise, and those are three separate things that people underestimate until they have seen all of them. Two nights or more and you are somewhere the day crowd never reaches.

We also run Jaisalmer desert safari and camps for people who want the desert without roughing it. Tents range from simple and budget friendly to premium luxury setups with attached washrooms. Both are real options here. Tell us your budget honestly and we will tell you what it actually buys.

Desert Safari Experiences

Choose Your Jaisalmer Desert Safari by Duration

The honest answer to “which safari should I take” is: however much time you can spare, take the longer one. An afternoon shows you the dunes. A night shows you the desert. Here is what fits into each.

Half Day Desert Safari

Leave after lunch, ride out to the dunes, watch the sun go down, eat something, come back. You will be in the city again by evening. This is the one to book if you have a train the next morning and no room to move things around.

Full Day Desert Safari

Same idea, more of it. You start earlier, so there is time for a longer camel route and a stop at a village along the way instead of driving past it. Dinner is out on the sand.

Overnight Desert Safari

Our most booked package, and the one we push people towards. Ride out in the afternoon, sunset from the top of a dune, dinner around the fire, sleep in a tent, wake up for the sunrise. If you are only doing one thing in Jaisalmer, do this one.

Multi Day Desert Safari

Two nights or more takes you deeper into the desert, with longer camel rides, quieter camps, village stays, and remote western stretches beyond Jaisalmer. Some routes also head towards the border, far beyond what a one-night safari can cover.

Find the Best Desert Tour That Fits Your Trip

Length is one way to pick. The other is what you want the day to feel like.

Camel Safari in Jaisalmer

Slow, quiet, and still the best way to cross this landscape. One camel per person, no doubling up, with a handler walking alongside who has done this route since he was a teenager. If you have never ridden before, say so when you book and we will match you to a calmer animal.

Jeep Safari in Jaisalmer

Faster, louder, and it covers ground a camel would need half a day to reach. Includes the dune driving. Worth booking if your schedule is tight, or if anyone in your group would struggle with a long ride.

Cultural Evening in the Desert

After the light goes, the fire gets lit and the musicians arrive. Kalbelia dance, Manganiyar singing, dinner served hot on the sand. The performers are local families, not a hired troupe.

Non-Touristic Desert Safari

For people who looked at photos of Sam Sand Dunes and thought it looked busy. These routes go elsewhere. Fewer jeeps, unmarked sand, and an evening where you will not hear another camp.

Our Desert Camps in Jaisalmer

The desert is a different place after dark. Our camps are set out on the sand rather than parked next to the road, which is the whole difference between hearing wind and hearing traffic. Tent options run from budget friendly to premium luxury, and the price changes with the tent, not with the safari.

Luxury Desert Camp

Bigger tents, proper beds, attached washroom, and a longer dinner menu. The desert outside is exactly the same. You are paying for how you sleep, not for what you see.

Swiss Tent Camp

The standard desert tent and the one most people end up booking. Roomy, well pitched, proper bedding, private washroom. Good middle ground on price.

Family Camp

Tents pitched together so nobody is wandering across the sand at night looking for their group. Shorter camel rides for the small ones, and an evening that does not run too late.

Couple Camp

One tent set away from the main camp, dinner served separately, and enough distance that you are not sharing your evening with a tour group.

Jaisalmer Tour Packages

The desert is the reason most people book, but the city is worth days on its own. Our Jaisalmer tour packages cover the fort, the havelis, Gadisar, and the sites scattered around the outskirts. Some extend to Jodhpur and Udaipur if you are carrying on through Rajasthan.

1 Day Jaisalmer Tour

The fort, the havelis, Gadisar Lake and the markets, paced so you are not sprinting between them. Doable in a day if you start early.

2 Days 1 Night Jaisalmer Tour

City on day one, desert on day two, one night on the dunes in between. If somebody asks us what to book with two days, this is what we say.

3 Days 2 Nights Jaisalmer Tour

Three days is where Jaisalmer stops feeling rushed. Full city circuit, two nights in the desert, and time for the outlying sites that shorter trips have to drop.

Jaisalmer, Jodhpur and Udaipur Tour

The wider Rajasthan run. Desert, then the blue city, then the lakes. Transfers and stays arranged along the way.

Beyond the Tourist Trail

Discover Jaisalmer Like a Local, Not a Visitor

Plenty of operators here run the same loop. Same dunes, same camp, same show, back by ten. That loop is fine, and for a lot of visitors it is exactly right.

But there is another Thar behind it. Villages where people still work the land and keep goats. Stretches of sand with no tyre tracks. Musicians who play in their own courtyard because that is where they have always played, not because a bus arrived.

If that sounds more like your kind of trip, ask us about the offbeat routes when you enquire.

Explore Jaisalmer Beyond the Desert

Jaisalmer Fort

One of the very few forts anywhere that people still live inside. Shops, homes, temples, laundry on the line. Go early, before the day crowd comes up the ramp.

Sam Sand Dunes

The big dune belt west of the city. The ridges here are the ones you have seen in photographs, and it is where most of our safaris run.

Kuldhara Village

An abandoned village out in the open desert. The story says everyone left in a single night, and whether or not you believe that, the empty stone lanes are worth the drive.

Gadisar Lake

The old city reservoir, now the quietest corner of Jaisalmer. Sandstone gateways, steps down to the water, and migratory birds in winter.

Desert Safari Prices in Jaisalmer

We get asked about price before anything else, so here is how it works rather than a number that would be wrong for half of you.

What you pay for a desert safari in Jaisalmer depends on four things.

How long you are out

A half day and a two night route are not comparable, so they are not priced as if they were.

Which tent you sleep in

The gap between a standard Swiss tent and a premium luxury setup is real money.

How many are travelling

A solo traveller pays more per head than a group of six. That is just how the vehicle and camp maths works.

When you come

The last week of December is not priced like the first week of August.

Every desert safari package on this site carries its own price, with a clear list of what is included and what is not. Read it, compare it, and you will know exactly what your day looks like before you pay a rupee.

Travelling on unusual dates, or as a group that does not fit a standard booking? Call us. We will build the Jaisalmer desert safari around what you actually want and price it properly, rather than fitting you into something close enough.

PULL QUOTE

Our promise is not the cheapest camel ride in Jaisalmer. It is that the desert safari you book is the one you get, at the price we agreed, with every detail written down first.

Where to Stay in Jaisalmer

Where you sleep changes the trip more than people expect. Inside the fort you get sandstone walls and lanes that belong to the residents in the morning. Around the city centre you are near the markets, the lake and the road out to the dunes. Out at the camps, you are in the desert.

The city has hotels, hostels and guest houses across premium luxury and budget price ranges. Backpackers and solo travellers usually end up in hostels for the price and the company. Couples and families tend to want the privacy of a hotel or guest house. And whatever you pick in town, spend at least one night at the camps. That is what you came for.

Tell us your dates and roughly what you want to spend, and we will point you in the right direction.

Why Book Direct with Desert
Park Safari

No middleman

Book direct and your money goes to the people running the safari.
Agents take a cut, and that cut comes out of your trip somewhere,
usually the food or the tent.

You see the price and the itinerary before you pay

Timings, route, inclusions, exclusions, all written on the package page.
Nothing gets explained to you for the first time at the dunes.

One camel per rider

No sharing, no doubling up. The handlers have worked with these
animals for years.

The person who answers is the person handling your booking

No call centre. If your train gets delayed, you have a number that works.

We will talk you out of the wrong package

If your flight is at six and you are asking about an overnight,
we will say so. A refund request is worse for us than a booking we did not take.

Find the Right Desert Safari Experience for Your Jaisalmer Trip

Send us your dates and how many of you are travelling, and we will put together the trip that fits, with a price attached.

Not sure which package to book? Call and describe what you have planned. We will tell you honestly what works and what does not.

Frequently Asked Questions

We are a desert tour operator in Jaisalmer running camel safaris, jeep safaris, desert camps and city tours across the Thar. The team is based here, and we operate the safaris, camps and transfers ourselves rather than passing your booking to another company.

It depends on how long you are out, which tent you book, how many of you are travelling and what time of year you come. Each package page carries its own price with a full inclusions and exclusions list. If your dates or group size are unusual, call us for a proper quote.

Pick the package that suits your dates, then use the enquiry form, WhatsApp us or call. Tell us your travel dates, how many people and any timing constraints, and we will confirm availability and send the full details before anything is finalised. You can book online through the package page or over the phone, whichever you prefer.

Everything from a half day sunset trip to routes running two nights and longer. Alongside the safaris we operate desert camps out on the dunes, city and heritage tours around Jaisalmer, and multi city packages extending to Jodhpur and Udaipur.

October to March. Comfortable days, cool evenings, which is what a desert safari needs. April to June gets brutal in the afternoon, so tours in those months start later. December and January nights are genuinely cold out on the sand, so pack a jacket even if your afternoon was warm.

Sam Sand Dunes are west of the city and the drive takes under an hour on a good road. Pickup and drop from wherever you are staying in Jaisalmer is arranged as part of most packages.

Half day or full day. Both get you to the dunes for sunset and back the same night. If you can stretch to one night, take the overnight, because the sunrise is the part people talk about afterwards.

The city has hotels, hostels and guest houses across premium luxury and budget price ranges, and we are happy to advise on which area suits your trip. Mention your dates and what you want to spend when you enquire.

Yes, and we change the format where it helps. Shorter camel rides for the little ones, a jeep transfer instead of a long ride, and a camp closer to the access point. Tell us who is coming and we will suggest what works.

Usually yes, outside peak season. From late December through the first week of January, and around the Desert Festival, we are often full weeks ahead. Call or WhatsApp us rather than emailing if your dates are close.
